This is too hard, Ron. I suppose I would choose Cattleya walkeriana. I've seen so many wonderful blooms of this orchid.
cheers,

Being different from the rest I would choose dowiana--especially the 'rosita' one.
Because I find them very difficult and at 100 euros each it's not easy to experiment!!!

definitely dowiana followed by a good quality nobilior...
Hello Ron, on my side that will be Catt. araguiensis, bicolor, quadricolor, iricolor. I grow at home Catt trianae growing well but not has flowered yet in two years, mossiae which has flowered 2011, 2010 but not the last year (I suspect it is because we hadn't lot of sunnydays in Normandy and a fresh summer and its (and others orchids didn't grow well the last year because this), percivaliana, maxima and violacea, aclandiae (two young plants) and an amethistoglossa (young plant).
Well, since we're looking at genus Cattleya circa 2002, and most of my favorites weren't recognized in genus Cattleya at the time, and a some favorites that are in this list clearly should never have been in genus Cattleya, I'll have to choose C. luteola. Many others are gorgeous, but just too damn big.
Cattleya warcewiczii coeruleas. Why? They are large flowers up to 12 inches and up to 10 flowers on each inflorescence!!
Cattleya aclandie or Cattleya iricolor (that smells the best " the neighbor flower")
C. warscewiczii, C. aurea, C. velutina, C. labiata - personal preference
