Default How much bigger do they need to be?

Hey everybody, these are my first orchid seedlings and I was wondering how big they should be before I can take them out and put them in a compot.
    Thanks, Ryan

Wow, what a bunch of healthy looking seedlings... what are they?

I'm not too confident about giving deflasking advise, but I'm sure some of the others here will have some good experiences to help out.

    cheers

ooooh, one of my faves... so got yourself another 12 years till flowering? hehehhe

actually, I think the newer breeding has shortened the time it is taking many of these to bloom. And when they are blooming size they are gonna be huge!!!

Also, do you know if this is a variety speciosum or curvicaule or hillii etc etc...

Good luck with these little ones!

    cheers

WAY TO GO Ryan!!! Those look good!! How did you sterilize the container of agar?? Did you NUKE it? Just curious. You don;t have to share all your secrets. Looking good though!!

I just mixed up the media, put it in the container and autoclaved it at 121C for 15 minutes @ 15 psi. (You could pressure cook it, but my pressure cooker isn't big enough)
Those containers are great because they are autoclavable and they have a filter on the lid to allow gas exchange while keeping contaminants out.

What containers did you use and were did you find them (If you do not mind me asking)?

Hey Tom I don't think that I am allowed to post that information on the message board. If you do a few more posts then I will be able to send you a private message with that info. They are great containers though and very reasonably priced (I'd say)
