All mother plants die back, whether its a achema(stoloniferous pups) or one that produces basal pups (guzmania, some vriesa, neoreglias...)

This is last years pic of the other one that's starting to bloom now.....
i dont know about your bromilaids but my mother plants have had several years of sending out there pups, i know ill go take some picks of them there i got about 6 or 8 diferant ones
