    Default belated Spring Thread 2013

Been shirking my duties it seems ...... Took some shots while visiting the folks over Mother's Day.

Ah how I miss hunting for these ...

Been years since I last knew of a good "hunting ground" -- found this one in a neighbor's yard. Knowledge of prime morel territory is a closely guarded secret. (Seriously! I know of folks who have lamented that their own grandmother -- though she does share her bounty with them -- refuses to tell them where she finds them. They're just hoping she will leave detailed directions in her will.)

Then there are my favorite springtime flowers -- trilliums.

And I disturbed this fellow hollowing out a nest

Then there are some of the more plebian, though still attractive spring flowers ...

Feel free to add your own photos.

Great photos, Paul! Makes me homesick for the springtimes of my youth when I lived in a cooler area.

Pavel, you are right, Trillium is a beautiful plant. Firts time I see images of this Genus. It doesn't appear in Europe. I've look for seeds, maybe I can grow it in my garden.

May your seed search go well. Word of warning though -- if I recall correctly, trilliums grown from seed can take up to 10yrs to bloom. (Kind of makes orchids look downright speedy doesn't it? )

i think right now is also the end of ramp (wild leek) season in michigan if you hurry..... yum!!!!!! i grew some on my balcony this spring, ate the leaves with scrambled eggs and stir fries a lot, but let most of them mature. i should check the bulbs now, mine have died back. i hope they summer over without dying on me.
