Be sure you soak the bark medium over night before you pot the plant. and also, make sure you have good air circulation. Also, don't put the plant in bright light. You want all the energy to go into growing new roots. make sure that the pot is very small, maybe a 2-3" pot. and don't plant it in a ceramic pot because you want the roots to have good air circulation around them.

Yes if it turns out to be a flower spike, if it were me, I would aseptically cut it off so the plant can concentrate on putting energy on leaves and roots. Keep in mind; I have read that other people have tried cutting off their spikes under the same circumstances and the plant continued to throw spikes in spite of it.
    Good luck!!

Hey speaking of soaking bark medium overnight, does anyone use Orchiata and if so, is it to be soaked overnight? I'm thinking of getting some...

I soaked the bark. The smallest pot I have right now is that one it's in in the photo, which is clay. Is that alright? I have one smaller pot, a plastic one, that currently holds a cactus. The cactus will be repotted next week, once my pumice comes in the mail, should I put the orchid in the slightly smaller plastic pot or keep it in that clay one?

Thank you guys for your help!

Just wanted to update. The Phal is doing really well. It has two new roots that are about 1/2 inch long now. The smaller leaf has grown and the new growth looks very healthy. There also appears to be a new leaf growing, so I'm super happy. Thank you all for the help!
