Default Laelia or Cattleya? need help identifying this orchids and which one?

    Hi to all,
I'm new to orchid's culture and don't really know if this are Laelia, Cattleya and what species/hibrid

Can't upload, it says it's too big; I'll try this
---- Photo - NOT POSTED - Please see this link on how to resize and attach photos ----

    The questions are:
    1. is it possible to identify this orchid?
    2. Some flowers are with great petal striation but others from another florescence of the same plant don't: is this normal? Or is there any desease?
    Thanks

We need to see picture first to answer your questions. You try to resize & upload the photo again.

    Pictures are definitely a "must."

Many of the online photo albums include photo editors which will enable resizing. Although somewhat limited in capability, Picassa -- a free photo editor which can be downloaded -- would enable you to do some resizing.

I take it the orchid did not come with a name tag? If not, then a photo or photos may make correct identification possible IF the orchid is a species. If it is a hybrid, on the other hand, a solid ID will be virtually impossible -- there are just too many similar hybrids out there. In a hybrid case, a tentative ID is the best one can hope for.

    Sorry, it didn't work either
    Let's try again, after resizing:

    Again the questions:
    1. is it possible to identify this orchid?
    2. Some flowers are with great petal striation but others from another florescence of the same plant don't: is this normal? Or is there any desease?
    Thanks
    3. Is it posible that last year the petals were white and this year is this color? Or I made a mistake in identifying the color?
Thanks, also for your pacience and welcome.

Laelia lobata, or possibly a very similar hybrid. One of many Laelia that have been reclassified as Cattleya though, so also Cattleya lobata.

I saw the color streaks on the petals and thought it was due to age or cold damage. Has this been a recurring problem? Are the flowers short lived? Isolate the plant until you are sure its not diseased and do not share the same clipper unless sterilized

Good point. Noticeable veiny stippling isn't uncommon in this species but this may be beyond normal. Virus watch may be appropriate.

    Thanks.
I really can't say because I met these orchids only a year ago and don't know their past. As I said before, and I think the photos show, one florescence has it but the other doesn't. Don't really know if this is important or not.
If it's virus how should I know and what should I do?
    All the best, Ricardo

I forgot about it: the flowers are there since 6 or 7 of June. How long do they live typically?
