Some of my Dad's Hydrangeas

Here are some Hydrangeas in my Dad's garden that are currently blooming.
I'm sorry I don't have the exact cultivar names.

Ironically, my parents spend the month of June in Florida every year and miss a lot blooming in the garden.
I try to document what's blooming by taking pictures. He also has some H. paniculata and H. anomala but they are not blooming yet.

Very nice. I've never tried to grow any Hydrangeas. My parents have a couple also. I wonder if theirs are in bloom now too? Thanks for posting these.

Bruce, they're easy to grow--just plant in good soil in shade to part sun and keep them watered in the hot summer. My Dad has an automatic sprinkler system. Some varieties will change color, becoming pink if the soil is basic or blue if the soil is acidic. I personally prefer varieties that don't change color like this. Also many varieties bloom on "old" wood so you have to be careful when pruning not to remove next year's buds.
The last photo is of a plant grown in almost full sun. The blooms are smaller but more numerous and bleached or washed out in color. While some garden authorities say you can grow these in full sun I think they do a lot better in part sun to shade.

Beautiful !!! I have a blue hydrangea bush that occasionally also produces pink flowers. It is the only hydrangea variety that will bloom in the lowlands and it blooms throughout the year.

beautiful varieties and photos, but they drove me nuts, as potted plants, when I worked in a flower shop, too much water they wilt, not enough water and they wilt. It's a plant I like to admire as long as I don't have to take care of it. thanks for posting, the oakleaf is my favorite.
