    Actually, it is too early to tell if it is spike or root.

    There's a slight tendency to grow up, so I also vote for a spike!

    sorry to say I vote for root, but more roots make for better blooms

    I have a similar nub on my rhy gigantea now too. I thought it was a root starting. Hopefully a spike!

    If the flowering season very close than could be spike but after the season usually hm root anyway that is great plant.
