    I find it interesting how the same type of plant can be grown in so many different ways around the world, mine are all mostly bare root with a few potted with tree fern chunks and pieces of broken pottery. We all have something to share and something to learn.

    Kate, thank you for your patient reply to potted Vandas versus Hanging, bare root Vandas. I have started acquiring Vandas--I have now two Vandas, one in a pot and one in a basket--the vendor also added Spanish moss in the basket--as the only other "media". The other Vanda came in a pot packed in coarse bark. I was going to repot the basket based Vanda into bark, but it looks very healthy in the basket. Now that I see your post, I think I'll leave it be, and see which one does the best--hopefully they will both thrive.

    That will be an interesting experiment, to see which one fares better. :-)
