Default Mobile photo's in a thread

I use my mobile phone for about 99% to look and talk on OT. I used the app Picup to get an img url that I good use directly in a new thread. But this app doesn't work anymore.
Does somebody use an app to upload your picture from your photo galary on your mobile phone that can be used in this great renewed OT mobile service?

It would be great to make a picture of an orchid and be directly able to share it with other OT members!

I sure hope someone has a good app for this too. I've only been able to do it if I upload my images to some other hosting site and use the [IMG] tags.

    cheers,

Sometimes you have to find an answer to a question yourself. So I sat myself behind the computer and started searching. And I have to thank the Minnisota Fishing forum for a very effective Youtube movie!

In short: take a picture with your smartphone, upload it with the Photobucket app to the web, copy the IMG URL and past it in OrchidTalk: READY!

This reminded me that I already had an account at Photobucket with which I could easily access my account again. If you don't have an account, it's easy to open one, which you have to do, otherwise the rest of this answer is useless.

I will show how to upload this random orchid photo from my photo album:

This will be a great help to many people! I had the problem of needing to upload from my phone as well. I happened upon the Imgur app. (I found it through an aquascaping forum.) It performs the same function but doesn't require registration through the website. Great thread!

    Here we go:
First download Photobucket and sign in, create an account

Then give Photobucket access to your album on your mobile phone. Go to "upload media" stated on the bottom of the app:

Click on "choose excisting" and choose the photo you want to upload, 1 photo at the time

If you click on "my album" you will see the photo in your album that is uploaded onto the web.

If you click on the photo in your album it will enlarge and in the right bottom you will see an "i", click on this

The last option is the IMG, click on this and it asks you to copy this IMG, which ofcourse you will

Then go back to our good old OT and past the copied IMG in the message area. And there it is!!!!!!

I really hope this will enable many people to enjoy their smart phone even more and, this counts for me, will encourage to share orchids with everyone world wide!

    Have fun!

Thanks Maurice. And please remember when using any image hosting site, you must not attempt to embed a link behind an image. Some photo hosting sites try to embed a link back to the page where the image was originally hosted. OrchidTalk doesn't allow those type links. We host all images on our own server. Any image that is posted here via the [IMG] tags gets copied and stored on our server. The software is set up to block those hidden links.

    Cheers,
    BD
