    Default Hopping across the pond.

Hi all, I'll be visiting my brother in Parker CO during the first week in October. I was wondering if forum members know of any good wildlife sites I could drop in on?

Not off hand, I'm afraid. Though considering the time of year, if you were going to be here longer and up to gallivanting across the US I'd suggest hitting the New England area or Yellowstone National Park -- many of the northern areas of the country will be passing through their colorful autumn splendor that month.

The Cherry Creek Trail runs along Cherry Creek, north and south through Parker. Bicycling, hiking, nature walks, and cross-country skiing are all popular uses.

The Rueter-Hess Reservoir is located southwest of town, and is not yet open for recreational use, which are planned to include fishing, hiking, and non-motorized boating. Significant filling is forecast to begin in 2012, and may take many years. No natural streams flow into the reservoir, instead water rights owned by the Parker Water and Sanitation District provide water delivered via Cherry Creek and a local canals. If filled to capacity, surface size would be 1,140 acres.

Also, you are outside Denver, so check out the Denver Chamber of Commerce site.

Thanks Katherine and Paul. I would love to visit Yellowstone but time won't allow I'm afraid. Cherry Creek looks great Katherine. I'll definitely do a couple of walks along there.

You won't be too far from Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Co. Spectacular scenery--I was there years ago--don't know if there's an entrance fee now.
