    Default Just some interesting shots

This is the Suitengamae Temple which was about 2 blocks from my hotel. The main temple, a side temple and the zodiac sculpture. This particular temple is for pregnant women to come and pray for an easy birth. The zodiac sculpture has the twelve signs of the zodiac, and the women rub the one that represents their child.

I did not go into the main temple, but did make an offering at the side temple. This is done by dropping coins in the box, then pulling on the cloth bell pulls so the Gods notice you. Then you bow and pray, clap your hands (to make sure the Gods are still paying attention) then bow and back away. You wash your hands in a special fountain before entering the temples.

How long is that flight? Sounds like you are making some serious frequent flyer miles!
The photos are beautiful. I always love to see travel photos. Did you take many with people in them? I always try to do that so that when I get home I can remember what the people were like as well as the beautiful places where they live. Thanks for sharing some of your memories!

    Cheers!

The flight going to Tokyo is 12 to 13 hours, depending on the headwinds. The flight back is 11 hours. It's 5500 miles each way. My next trip I stay over a weekend, and hope to get out of the city. Tokyo is like Manhattan for the most part. I want to try to get to Kyoto or Sapporo this next trip.
