Default Odontocidium Roger Cole 'John's Bingo' AM/AOS

This is such a favorite of mine I thought I'd post it for the new members/public. Third blooming this year. Fairly easy care. I love the contrast between the dark petals and the bright yellow petals. ALName: Odontocidium 'Roger Cole' John's Bingo AM AOS 104.JPG

Lovely - nice vibrant colour. I notice that flowers grown at higher altitudes tend to have brighter and more vibrant colours.

A farly small plant and flowers yes. A mini size I don't believe so. Thats at least a 4 and 1/2 inch container its in and the blooms are about a inch and one half wide. I thought minis were catergorized as smaller than this (Like a Tolumnia), but I have not read up on minis in so long I'm certainly not sure of this. AL

Many people believe that the cooler temps in the highlands improves the intensity of the colour. Is there another possibility i.e at higher altitudes due to less cloud cover the UV in the atmosphere is higher and many plants produce a colour 'screen' to filter off the higher amount of UV light? In the Cameron Highlands here,, approx 5800ft, one notices that many green leaves have a reddish sheen (absent on the same plants in the lowlands). Could the colour 'screen' add to the intensity of colour in the flowers?
