Default Oncidium 'Sharry Baby' and Oncidium Orhithorhyncum

Tis the season for Oncidiums. The Oncidium 'Sharry Baby' is a first time bloomer for me. It was a cheap orchid that came from a on-line vendor. The shipping cost far more than the actual plant. It needed lots of TLC. Increased the amount of bright light it's been getting in the last year or so and it has rewarded me with 5 spikes (Two not yet in bloom). My green house smells..............................Wonderful. The Oncidium Ornithorhyncum is on it's fourth blooming this year with two spikes (One in bloom). Hope you enjoy the view. Nice! From what I have seen, 'Sharry Baby' is a very vigorous plant and a mad bloomer. I can't wait for mine to bloom, though I got it going out of bloom a couple of months ago, I might have a little while. It seems like you see them everywhere for cheap and well worth the trouble to grow.

True enough Carol. They are both common and popular at the same time. Some enormous plants with hundreds of flowers have been posted here over the years. Your going to love the fragrance when your 'Sharry Baby' blooms! AL

TLC stands for 'tender loving care' KSL Yip. This orchid of mine was not in the best shape when I got it. Thanks for your post and interest. AL

Mine was actually just finishing a bloom when I bought it (really cheap!!) and I visiting my father, 4 hours away. I got to enjoy my car for 200 miles! I liked it. I just got it last month, so will be a little while before I get to see it bloom again, I figure. It's a happy plant with good roots, I won't be surprised to see it bloom again next spring.

Beautiful blooms and very well grown plants. I always love that chocolate fragrance of Sharry Baby.

Both are lovely. Our Sharry Baby bloomed much earlier this year. It is already finished blooming. Yours is amazing!

    cheers,

The Oncidium 'Sharry Baby' has six spikes in various stages of deveopment right now (two in bloom). The Oncidium Ornithorhyncum has been in bloom each month for at least fifthteen months. Gosh how I love the strong consistant producers! AL
