Media formulas with activated charcoal use 2 grams/litre as standard.
Phytotech sells enough different medias and has the ingredients listed on their webpage including activated charcoal.

Hi. I searched for PhytoTech, but there are so many of them with similar services. Can you give me a URL?

    Thanks, got it. :-)

I purchased now Physan 20 (produced by Maril Products inc., USA), which is a liquid with following attributes:
    - Disinfectant
    - Sanitizer
    - Deodorizer
    - FUNGICIDE
    - ALGAECIDE
    - Virucide

Can I use this fungicide for the orchid germination substrate, and if, in which concentration? Or would it rather kill the seeds or baby plants? I called them already and they told me that this product is stable and won't change during steam-cooking sterilization of the substrate.

The active ingredient in Physan 20 is a quaternary ammonium compound. It works well as a surface disinfectant, and can be used on plants because external tissues are resistant, but would be a serious problem in germination medium. An orchid seed is essentially a cluster of naked cells as it germinates, no resistant layers, and would be bleached to death. A good choice for sanitizing your working area, or the inside of a glove box, or for cleaning and disinfecting tools perhaps, but not in the medium.
