I use 50% for Catts, and double shade it for summer. Used to use 70% but have found at the higher light levels, the catts have fuller blooms.

Hello,
I need to buy some shade cloth and am unsure if I need 50% or 60%. Unfortunately, I can not use Aluminet due to HOA restrictions. Most of my collection is 90% cattleya with a few paphs and phals.
My thought is to go with 60% because the greenhouse gets direct sun for about 8hrs of the day and the sun is intense here in Austin.
Any recommendations? I have read several of the past posts on the forum but am still unsure.
Thanks,
Chris

I've used 50% for cats and it worked fine for me, but you might want to trust your gut feeling, it's easy to buy a lighter shade the next time then deal with a sun scorched collection
