    Default scorpion orchid has keiki

My scorpion orchid has a young plant on the stem of the parent do I have to cut the old one? there are two flower spikes on it and it has been flowering for more than a year now, every time I intend to cut it because of its height it is about ten feet tall, it has fallen over lots of time because it is in a pot so I have tied it to a wall and there comes a new spike, so can someone please tell me how to handle the young one, thank you

It can be cut off if it has enough roots to support it.

No roots as yet, this is the first time I have ever had one so I did not know that the young plant sends root I thought I had to cut the parent and replant where the young one is, thanks
