I think this White Phalaenopsis turned out quite well in the picture.

Hi Mietek, when I have time i'll try to experiment on the new method you suggested.

    Thanks.

Just a note, as I resurrect this old thread... My new dslr camera is coming today!! We purchased a Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera with a 2 lens bundle for a very good sale price, we just couldn't pass it up and the camera has good reviews. I can't wait for the UPS truck! I have a couple of Phals at the tail end of their bloom cycle - I've already taken a few pictures with my little point and shoot and will try some more with the new Nikon to compare. I was checking this thread out for the advice on what to do to get good pictures. We'll see how that goes!

That's a very good buy Carol. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the D3300. Looking forward to seeing pictures with the new camera.

It just got here, even the introductory video gives me all sorts of ideas... yay! Too bad I'm going to be pretty busy tonight, but tomorrow... well I hope for some time to play!

Well, I forgot a setting and was in a hurry, but this was one of the best pictures I took last night. LOVE the camera, it just feels great in my hands, solid and smooth. And I can see my photography will only go up from here. The files are huge - if I want to have one blown up as a print on canvas to hang, no problem!

    Very sharp!

I have a D5300 coming on Thursday this week myself. Now I am drooling in anticipation.

The best one is clear and sharp even with extreme magnification... so much fun! My own vision isn't that great, I used to use a regular SLR many years ago. Today I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell if it were in focus or not, I need that autofocus! Darn getting old anyways!
