Thank you for your enthusiastic approval Yew Sung. I don't do anything special or different for this vanda and yet it blooms and blooms and blooms...in fact a second spike is already halfway to blooming size even though the buds have not fully opened yet on the first spike.

And the color too!!!! Where others would use the color enhancer mode of their digicams to liven up the photo, I was actually trying to find out if my digicam had a "color minimizer" function to get a good shot of this orchid. It has none.

Would hand pollination be possible to induce fruiting?.

The one with single flowers and bearing fruit occurs more often in the Philippines. In fact, I have never seen a double-flowered pomegranate prior to buying this plant in 2009.

I think the part that should bear pollen has been transformed to petals as well. It seems to be sterile.

Does it smell like the fruit or does it smell at all? I am a plant addict not just an orchid addict, lol. If this is a fragrant plant it may be nice to add one to my yard. How well does it handle sun?

It has no scent. It thrives in direct sunlight all day, over here that is 33 degrees centigrade.

Sad news about the smell but I think I can overcome the sorrow once I have beautiful blooms to distract me . This is perfect. In the area I live in there is not alot of tree coverage and so my yard is about 90% sun and dirt. Hibiscus and several ferns are commonly grown by my neighbors and I have been on the lookout for something that can thrive in my area but isn't in EVERYBODY's yard. This is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing. Now the task of finding one .

You are very welcome, Kim. I only chanced upon this plant in an obscure backyard nursery five years ago. I have never seen one in all the big agricultural fairs and garden shows before that, and haven't seen any for sale since then. In fact, I think I'm the only one who has it in my city. Good luck, Kim. I hope you find one soon.

Found a buy one get one free online. Won't be just like yours of course but who knows I love pomegranate so I wont complain if I get fruits instead of flowers.
