    Default Cattleya leaves

Hi. I have one question. Does my cattleya gets too much sun or it's just normal the leaf color? It wasn't always like this but more green like this I don't know much of this orchid, I bought not too long ago. The position is North-East and it gets direct morning sun from 6am till 9...9:30am. Maybe I have to protect it from a direct sunlight? Thanks

leaf color looks ok to me. I observe browning on one of the leaf tips but i think may be it is not due to sun burn. has it been there for long or is it only after you moved it to direct sun?

No, in that position in the direst sun is for like two weeks only. The browning tip was already before I exposed to full sun.

I see no problem with your plant. Leaves look OK to me. I would not change anything in growing conditions right now.
Most of catts don't like direct sunshine. However, yearly morning sun is not harmful for them.
You wrote your plant gets 3-3,5 hours of direct sunlight. And what after 9.30 am? Any sunshine at all or full shade?
    Cattleyas like bright growing conditions.

After 9:30am is a bit of shade because we are surrounded by tall buildings (8..9 floors) and after a certain angle the sun doesn't reach here anymore, besides the balcony is exposed north/east side. I know catt and dendr needs bright light I was just hoping it can grow here during summer anyways because in autumn we are moving, I hope to a more luminous house. Thanks for your reply!

Hi again. The came catts and dargening tips of their leaves. Is that normal in darker seasons or maybe they don't like something I'm doing? Laelia catt hybr even was dropping some of completely darkened leaves, the other catt just maybe one.
I don't even expect that they'll blossom this year as in winter my home is too dark.. I mean, they don't look like plants that gonna blossom in couple of months imho. Or maybe they will? What do you think about their blackening tips of leaves?

Pale green is actually healthier than dark green (same with phals). dark green is usually an indication of one of two things insufficient light or overburied roots. These look healthy and with very mild damage to tips .

The burning on the tips looks as though the place you got it wasn't fertilizing it properly.

blacking of leaf tip could be a sign of lack of calcium. The blacking in the second picture appears on the bulbs and base of the leaf and that looks like a black rot to me.
