3 years ago i bought 10 cuttings of this and put them all in one pot. last year a few buds grew but failed. this is the firs successful blooming. it opened part way last night, i guess this is fully open now. more funnel shaped than my other hybrid orchid cacti. nothing else open to cross it with, so may try to save some pollen for something else, like the dragon fruit this summer. the flower is almost 5" across, and 6" long including the stem.
Wow! I have only ever seen white/pink versions of these.
wow that is a stunner, be a wild cross with the dragon fruit if it takes
PRETTY!!! Im in awe.
Gorgeous! I just remembered that I had planned to send cuttings of my Epiphyllum to people here that were interested this spring... seems spring is here, so if anyone wants some still, please PM me. I'll have to take them all on the same day to mail, as we don't have a local post office and the ones I can get to are 10 miles away with limited hours. I don't think its exactly the same, as the flowers look longer than the one pictured here.
Here's a picture:
An excellent red!
I dont mine to have in my collection love the red color.
with the last flower shown, i have retrieved one of the faded (dried up) flowers from my white scented epi, and tried a cross-pollination. we'll see...
mmmkay... that flower fell off, so pollination did not work.
