Phal Mariae

I bought this about 3 months ago and the spike it was beginning to grow has now given me its first flower.

Hopefully, more will grow on this species phal. It has another spike but it grew down into the roots. I doubt it will bloom. Perhaps it will keiki.

No, it isn't. In most cases when I buy an orchid not in bloom, I don't feel a need to announce the purchase. Many, not all, I buy in bloom do get a post and picture of.

I know the feeling. I watched this one bud grow and mature and plump and bloom for what seemed like an eternity. So worried about the bud aborting (my phal bastinii aborted all of it buds on the spike earlier this year), hoping it would survive and open.
