They are tougher than we think, as long as we don't rot them out!

I personally don't really know, but I suspect it could use a little larger pot and that others will have good recommendations as to media for it.
Thank you, that is what I figured. I have been dunking it a couple times a day trying to get the rest of the moss out and I figure that helps keep it from drying out too. Then I just set it in the decorative pot it came in, I am not sure I can get it back in the inner plastic pot it came with, even without the moss. It was really stuffed in there. It might be a while before I can get to the store, I live in the country and have three kids so going out is a bit of a challenge. Plus the fair is coming up and I need to get things ready for that. Actually it might be easier to order something ---- vendor information removed -see faqs on posting----....

cool. thank you. My violets are much happier on the east side then the west. The violet that I am going to take to the fair is from the east side.

Question - I have an oncidium that was like Tash's, though mine may be younger. It took me an hour after soaking to loosen the roots before I repotted it. It seems to be very healthy but.... I noticed some of the leaves look diseased and want your opinions. A few leaves were like this

I cut them off. I have a few others that have black dots/holes...

Not sure if this is bugs or what. I misted the plant with a neem based solution. Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

I would sure appreciate your feedback!
    Thanks

Looks like a pest to me. Neem oil is something that can certainly help against sucking pests. I would carefully check the medium for any pests too.

Default My Odontocidium Catatante "Pacific Sun Spots" Orchid.....

I, too, was able to purchase 2 of these orchids, post bloom. I was very new to orchids and did what I thought was best in repotting it and went with a larger pot for each, using regular orchid potting mix. I purchased them in early December and after repotting, they sat on an east facing windowsill until I purchased a "grow tent", then I moved them into it so they would have the brighter light provided by the grow light.
So far they seem to be growing well, even though they, too, were really root bound. I attached photos of each pot when they were still on the windowsill, although I think there has been quite a bit more growth since these were taken.
