Hah, as you get older three years is an eye blink! If I get bored waiting for one plant to flower, I just buy another one to keep my company... hehe I justify it by telling myself that my MIL (who lives with us) is getting very old and enjoys the flowers, so I should keep something blooming all the time, right??? hehe I just had a Phal finish off and now one of my Catts is opening and my Onc Sharry Baby has a spike, yay!

This is inspiring. Last summer, I bought 4 phals also which needed saving. Its almost Nov now and they showed significant recovery (new leaves, new roots). And yes, hopefully blooms soon... When? Time will tell. Carol, 3 yrs! How many orchids do you have? While waiting for orchid blooms, i busy with my African violets to bloom...

I need to update my notebook - about 45-50? Seems to be enough at the moment, I find I am not so interested in getting more. Probably in the spring, when I want to deal with growing things a lot more than in the winter! At the moment I have an Onc. Sharry Baby blooming madly and an Onc. Heaven Scent also blooming (a very cute small Sharry Baby offspring). Usually in Jan/Feb the Phals start up and I'll have several blooming along with one of my two Paphs, then the other. I have Cattleyas that I am hoping for too, new growth with sheaths, but no real sign of flowers in them yet (or maybe not until the next new growths, they seem to be getting closer). All of my growing space is pretty full and not much room to quarantine anything either. I'm not 78Terp who somehow has found room for many orchids since the bug hit him, just too lazy! I do like to have something in bloom and may buy more if nothing is spiking...

I'm going to have to juggle some things around to light fires in the wood burning stove too, as cold weather is just around the corner. We don't use it for main heat unless we lose power, but its sure comfy on a chilly day as a supplement!

How is your humidity holding up?

Since October began, my indoor humidity has plunged. I was able to maintain 40% or higher during the summer without too much trouble, but now, the air has dried out so much more and my technique for keeping the house humid appears to not work this time of year.
