Enjoy these flowers now. It may be the last ones on this orchid for a long time. Of course, you know the flowering cycle drains energy from the plant and roots and leaves grow very slowly if at all while blooming?

Orchid roots must be able to breathe and get fresh air. That is one of the big reason many of us pot with a bark mix that allows air in. Also, phals like to get dry for a day or so. Keeping the roots wet all the time allows rotting and root death to happen.

The moment those flowers drop, cut off the spikes, and take a few pictures of the roots to show us. There is another poster in the "Introduce Yourself" with a similar problem to yours, but her plant doesn't have any spikes.

Like I told her, your chances for rescuing this Phal are very slim, since you have no roots left. But it doesn't hurt to give it a try. All it takes is some patience.

You can also cut the spikes off, put them in a vase to enjoy and let the plant try to heal..

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply, You said that my orchid doesn't have any roots left, but I know that under the soil it has about 5 short green roots, I know, because I repoted it when I bought it. took all the moos out and replaced with orchid soil. Then it starter to drop leaf after leaf. (when I bought it it had 7 leafs, now no leaves) I gonna try to do anything I can to save this orchid, because her flowers have a little scent, witch is amazing :P, and because it cost me 50 litas or in dollars 25 ("litas" is Lithuanian money) so again thanks very much for your reply.

Is there any chance that this poor phal will grow a keiki near the base?

if you would like to save the phal, you can certainly attempt . i would suggest that

    1. you cut the spike
    2. remove the phal from the medium and apply a fungicide (soaking in fungicide would help)
    3. repot in a fresh medium or you could try a sphag and bag method
    4. observe the phal closely and mist whenever it gets dry

let us know how it goes

OK, here are the pictures of roots when I soaked them in fungicide and in water and then planted it in very fluffy and air-free soil, exposing green roots to light for photosynthesis, because there's no leafs left.

At least you have viable roots. You may be able to save her!

I am not sure how to coax leaves to grow. I just had my most challenged phal grow its first new leaf since getting it last November. Patience is required now!
