    Default Paph micranthum

This Paph won Champion Orchid of show this last weekend. received an AM also. The grower has a collection of a vast amount of genera. Paphs haven't been one of his successes but this made it.

Oh, thanks for the name on that, Jervis! It's quite amazing and will probably go on my wish list. Is it any harder than the other Paphs to grow?

A very lovely Paph micranthum - no wonder it was awarded an AM.

Paph micranthum is a bit of a challenge for some growers. New growths often emerge several inches away, so it needs a large shallow container, or some grow it in a basket. It can also be very sensitive to moisture in winter, and usually prefers a rather cool dry winter rest that can be hard to provide. I would recommend the similar in appearance but usually easier hybrid Paph Magic Lantern (delenatii x micranthum) that often takes after the commonly grown Paph delenatii parent for care.

Really excellent form and color on this one. It deserves any accolades it may get.

I agree with paphmadman, mine has been a challenge to grow for every new growth i seem to lose one to some sort of water issue, the smallest bit of water left on leaves or in a crown spells doom for micranthum and armeniacum. They both have very similar growth habbits and cultural requirements.

I tried but without any success.Perhaps the sub tropical weather in Hong Kong is too hot for them.
