Default Sjma. radicans 'Petie Prince' (TAG READING)

Here's a recent bloom of mine and a new purchase as well. Apparently, there's some confusion about its ID. Although the tag reads the same as what's in the subject line (and we KNOW part of that isn't spelled right), it's definitely not a Vanda related orchid, as you can see from the photo. I'm posting a photo of what was given to me by the seller and also one of my close ups.

The seller calls it Siamatostalis. It's truly a joy as it's constantly in bloom and the center is dark compared to the rest of the flower. It likes a drink every morning and a little fan blowing under it all day long. It wasn't in bloom when I got it but I was told to expect blooms shortly. It's free flowering also which is nice. I haven't seen too many of these so I WANTED it, LOL, even though I just spent big bucks on a Dendrobium leucocyanum. There may be an error in the official ID but the name in the subject line is what's exactly what's on the tag. The second word IN THE PHOTO (sorry, obliterated) has a capital 'R' BUT a lowercase 'r' on the TAG (as well as other discrepancies between the name on the tag, the photo, and orchidwiz. I took the liberty of deciding on the spelling in the text of the photo.) What do they say....."..a rose by any other name....", :-))

Thanks a bunch! The photo doesn't indicate any extension, like I have, which is 'Petit Prince' BUT....I suppose as long as I keep doing what I'm doing and it thrives, that's all that matters. I think I saw that photo somewhere in my travels online. It could be the same but I need to see more of the plant. Being what
this is, it can't be too many other things, LOL!

Definitely Sigmatostalix/Sgmx. (or Ornithophora/Orpha., or Gomesa/Gom.) radicans. 'Petite Prince' is definitely a cultivar of that species. Ornithophora is the preferred name now. Oncidium alliance.

Here is an updated IOSPE link to Ornithophora radicans (aka Sigmatostalix radicans).

Yes, this is the exact orchid I was describing to you in the private message, CWC. Sgmx is correct. Your vendor got it wrong.

    cheers,

Bruce, that's what I figured (especially when the photo label and the tag label don't even agree).. Perhaps the plants' quality will make up for the mistake on the label :-D Thanks!
