Very nice, Tim! Actually, I think you've captured the color and velvet well.
Are all of those flowers coming out of one sheath?

This was a surprise.... the progress from the sheath showing to flowers was so amazingly fast!
Cattleya bowringiana 'Black Prince'
Unfortunately, I can't capture the darkness of the colour and the velvet tones of the lip...
cheers

Really Lovely. Soo - are you going to take it to your society meeting too?
Very very Nice Tim!!! I am always partial toward dark color orchid blooms. Fragrant I think?
So what is the season downthere (end of summer? fall?) for these guys to bloom now? Mine just start new roots and new growths!
Cheers. Hoa.
It's now Autumn or as y'all put it... Fall... but our weather here doesn't really get cold enough to see the falling coloured leaves... not till winter anyways... not sure when things are suppose to bloom really... I am just thankfull when any of my 'chids do!
This flowering is all from the one sheath... but i thought that it was possible to get up to twenty flowers from the one sheath on these plants so my five is.. well, a start
Will my 'Black Prince' stay nice and proper for the meeting next Thursday as well? If so, then definitely will be going along with Paph Coos...
Thanks for the lovely comments.... you're all too kind
I think that they will!!! And next year, a bigger crop of flowers! Yeah!!!

I wish there is a Cattleya bowringiana in one of the orchid shop here in Manila, Philippines!
There is hybrid of Cattleya bowringiana x Cattleya labiata that is the most widely cultivated hybrid in the country.
