    Default Virus?

So, last year my OS rescued some orchids from the collection of a gentleman who had passed away. This orchid had no ID, and so I have been waiting for it to bloom. This week it did. One bloom is unmarked, while the other shows what I think must be markings of colorbreak virus.

I've never seen one like this, so thought I'd post and see if the more experienced growers agree that this is likely a virused plant. If so, I will toss it.

    Thanks!

Visual cues say that it could be virused. Is virus testing an option?

I think virus testing tends to cost as much as an orchid , so that yes, it is an option, but is it worth following ? And the danger is that whilst you are waiting for the results to come in, some wandering pest may pass the virus on to other plants. If in doubt, throw it out has been my motto ever since I had to destroy half my cymbidium collection some twenty years ago.

The Agdia Immunostrips cost $42 for 5 test strips, so that's not really out of the question at all, but I wouldn't bother, but would pitch that plant.

I don't know that one. The two I have heard of, btw, are both said to be Better than 70% accurate.

But is anything less than 100% worth it ?

Sounds like it looks like virus alright. It's not an orchid I am attached to, so I will follow my plan of tossing it instead of returning it to the greenhouse. Thanks, all.
