    Default Blc. George King Serendipity

I am brand new to the forum so I am trying to find my way around. I have a George King that has just opened up three flowers with one to go. I am told that this has a wonderful fragrance but mine has none. Is this usual?

    Welcome to the forums.
While I'm not familiar with this particular variety, I can tell you that fragrance can be dependent on several factors such as maturity of the blooms, time of day, light levels, temperatures, and humidity levels. What conditions is your plant receiving?

Jody is right. The fragrance is not turned on all the time. My experience is that the fragrance is deployed at the time of day that the pollinator is active. Some are fragrant at night some early in the day. I can only recommend that you sniff it at different times of the day. I find the fragrance is somewhat muted here in the dry air of Colorado. But I believe it is due to too little humidity to support the scent hanging in the air.

My George King is open now too. It does have a very nice fragrance but I notice it is more fragrant at different times of the day.

The growing conditions are fine. I believe it has to do with how recently it bloomed. I was at the local grower yesterday where I purchased it and he thinks it will after it is open a few days.

Usually fragrance doesn't come until the blooms have opened for a while. Fragrance should come in a few days like others have said
