No caudatum in either, Mehera! Enter water saucer, stage right...
Julie
Thanks for clearing that up--that plant heritage stuff is Greek to me. I figure with just two phrags I can keep up with the saucers.

What! No one uses Diatomite? Mine are in pure Diatomite following Ed Merkel s lead who has great Phrags. Mine are growing well now too/
I do and have great luck with it, most of my maxies are in it also. What! No one uses Diatomite?
Mine grow in what we call "barko". It is a bark mix in a semi hydro pot..same principal as setting the bark mix in a saucer... so far ,all love it . The saucer is the bottom of the pot !! Even long petaled guys like Grande, China Dragon, Belle Houge Point...here are some examples. And to answer the question, doesn't the bark mix break down too fast staying wet..the anwer is no. I have some that have been in the pots for 3 years ! Examples..
There are some other pics somewhere on the site...
i have all my phrag,s an paph,s in hydr pots,no problems, grow and bloom fine.

I grow mine in s/h. I didn't have luck with bark mix.
Barko looks real interesting!
What is Diatomite? - never saw one in stores.
What do you all mean by "sitting in water" in sauser - literally in water or on pebbles? ... I'm confused...
