    Default Epidendrum Spike Propagation

    Hi Folks,

My lovely epidendrum had rot on 1 pseudobulb. I was definitely overwatering, the bark mix was decomposed and holding more water than I thought. I sprayed the remaining plant w/hydrogen peroxide & repotted it in new bark. I hope that will be ok, but I did have to remove a lot of dead roots. As for rotted the pseudobulb, I had to cut the whole bulb from the spike which is in flower. Is it possible to propagate just the spike given that they will sometimes grow keikis? I put it in moist spag just in case, but wondering what I can expect.

As always, I appreciate your thoughts.

Until very recently I had an Epi. viviparum that produced a beautiful keiki on a spent flower spike. But I don't know what other species will do this. I don't think it will work but no harm in trying. Maybe put a bit of rooting powder at a couple of the leaf nodes?

Hiya Folks, Wanted to give an update. The flower spike died so rooting hormone didn't work for it. I've also lost 2 more stalks as well even though I've repotted and sprayed. I've attached photos of the leaves. Please let me know if you have any ideas on what I can do for it.Name: IMG_1258.JPG

Softness in the leaves looks like a bacterial infection. You can use Physan 20/RD 20 and drench the plant and avoid watering the foliage till it recovers
