    Default Phrag. Penn's Creek Cascade

This is it's first bloom - the petals are almost 20 inches long and growing more and more each day. (This is also the plant who those darn creatures ate one of the buds! Alas, it appears that there is another bud on the way and if the creatures come out to get it, there willl be war!)

    Very nice, Eve!

Hopefully yours will inspire mine to do something this year! It suffered a rather nasty scale attack last fall. Fast and destructive, but I have a new growth that's healthy, so I'm thinking it's recovered.

Death to critters who munch on orchids! Or at least prolonged penal sentences in orchid-free jails!

I am very partial to those long petal paphs and phrags. Amazing looking phrag! Beautiful!

Thanks everyone. I originally thought I was disappointed with this one because the petals were only like 4 inches at first and they stayed that way for a while then all of a sudden they grew like mad and came to where they are today.

Patricia - I'm not sure that it's my conditions that helped this one (I grow it outside on my patio, water it every day, never fertilize, and don't have this one sitting in water.) About 2 months ago it was looking rather sad and droopy. I figured it might be because it needed to be re-potted, so I re-potted it. Right after I re-potted it WHAM! big ole spike in the blink of an eye.

    Hi Eve,

Penn's Creek Cascade is 25% caudatum, and the caudatum strain doesn't want to sit in water, so don't even go there with this one. It will thank you for slightly less soggy feet!

    Nicely grown!
