    Default Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim

= hookeriana x teres. The national flower of Singapore. A historic plant that contributed to the cut flower industry of Singapore and Malaysia around 40-50 years ago. This is the first time I am having so many spikes in bloom together, previously they were munched by the yellow orchid beetle before they could bloom. Grows like a weed in full blazing sun, and fed heavily with manure.

How tall is this one Li? I cut the top off when it gets to 6 feet tall, you are right it grows like a week. Mine bloomed like this several years ago but each year I top it off it only blooms a little.

Jack, this clump is close to 3 meters now (9 feet). It is growing on a dead tree stump so it is quite strongly anchored, but does sway in strong winds.
