The species - Cym tigrinum is one parent of this hybrid, the other being Cym.Alexanderi. Registered about 1960 by Stewarts.
Cym tigrinum normally has about 5 or 6 flowers, I read, and Alexanderi about 10, so a large number is not to be expected. But the 20 or so flowers here on 4 spikes, makes a nice show, and a welcome one in the cymbidium section in my greenhouse, being quite late flowering.
The colour is not right to my eyes - it is not such an intense yellow, and has more green kin it, but it is well known that the human eye is more sensitive to shades of green than any other colour, and in a photo we are stuck with the sensitivity of the camera.
Stunning!
Beautiful Geoff.
Beautiful.
Very nice but another genus I'll have to give up on until I build a greenhouse. I have five but two have never flowered and the other three are sporadic.
Beautiful!
