Hi guys
Just thought I would share 2 new additions to my orchid family.
I bought a Cambria Nelly Isler which smells fenomenal and it's the first orchid I've had that has a scent.
The other one is a Dendrobium 1 Trieber (according to the sticker) and it's very pretty.
Both of these were 75% off and I thought they were on their way to hibernation but since I've brought them home they have really perked up
Looks very nice. Good buy
Nice! Can't do much better than 75%!
Pretty!
But please change that silly name. there is NO orchid genus "Cambria" . Correctly it is an Oncidium, although it has had a few name changes in the last 11 years since the botanists in charge of plant names got some new toys and started discovering "relationships" which were false, and so on.
The name Cambria came from some rather ignorant professional growers, who started mass -producing identical plants which happened to be properly called Vuylstekeara Cambria, variety Plush. Too many words for people who can't read very well, perhaps, and after that they started calling all plants of similar, but sometimes wildly different parentage by the shortened name Cambria.
I'm so sorry, I'm fairly new to the Orchid world and I wasn't aware that there are so many different kinds of orchids, I always get so excited when I see a new genus . I shouldn't have trusted the sticker it came with so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
