Default Spotted Dendrobium Panduriferum - Repot?

I purchased this orchid about six months ago. Had never seen one potted? this way but left it as is because it had a hook on it for hanging. It has done fine up to this point with a new cane developing but I'm asking if I need to do anything with it. Do I need to unwrap it and put it in a pot or is this OK.

If it were me I would leave it as it is but be aware that it will need more water than if it were in a pot.

Looks nice. Concur with Monica. Seem to have pendulous growth habit. I would leave it as is. Only challenge needs to be watered daily

I know who you got this from, they mount this way on a lot of orchids that can grow this way, I have a few and just treat as you would a mounted orchid, water daily or every other day.

It is wrapped in cour - coconut fibre. I have kept plants in this stuff for several years. For ones that want to hang down it is best to leave them - e.g. Dendrobium unicum is often sold like this. If the hook is positioned so that the plant is at the top, then unwrapping and potting conventionally is a possibilty , and I have done that with no trouble. The tiny blue flowered plant - Ceratocentrum merrillianum is usually sold like that, and I kept mine in the coir for three years, and it double spiked every year. After potting more conventionally it took 2 years to recover, and then had a single spike. Taught me a lesson- what is it you guys say - if it ain't broke... ?
