Natural spread of the flower - i.e. without flattening out. is over 7 inches, Difficult to show - unless a naturalistic display includes a tree with a horizontal branch, then you might look up at it - but that's a pretty rare chance. But worth growing, even if I have to pick the popt up to show the flower to visitors.
It's a hairy monster too!
Man, that is amazing, Geoff! Nice work!!
cheers,
BD
Nice! Does it always spike from the side rather than from the bottom of the pot?
Wow. Very nice Geoff.
This the first floweing, but there is a second spike looking similar.
The idea that all dracs send their spikes straight down is quite wrong. I have maybe 6 or 7 different species in spike at the moment, and perhaps only half of them have spikes emerging though the net side wall ( I always use net pots, just in case). Drac diabolo, which has an even larger flower than this, has a very similar spike currently about 10 inches long, extending out sdeways....
Very Cool!
Ditto! Very cool!
Nicely done!
Love Draculas and this one is stunning!
