I've run out of shaded areas in my yard (not much to begin with) so had to come up with something to protect some orchids and others from what has been a very intense UV summer. I was going to get some camouflage cover like the stuff they use for military vehicles but the only surplus store here has closed. What I did was tack chicken wire onto a frame then tie strips of torn up bed sheet to that. Worked out pretty good and got rid of some stuff in the shed and linen closet. Don't think the plants will know the difference. Have to fill up the space in the morning.
All filled up. The plants in the foreground are Euphorbia millii var. Splendens. My wife had it sent from home years ago and it was 5' tall when it developed stem rot last winter. Not sure what I'll do with 30 of them. The orchids in the background are in 4" pots set into weeping tiles.
