Lightbulb Advice for Growing Orchid in Air-conditioned Living Room

I am thinking of buying Cleisocentron gokusingii and Cleisocentron merrillianum, which is cool grower. So maybe I should grow them in air-conditioned living room. I have tried growing some orchids like Phals and Vandas indoor before but it is not successful at all. I think the challenge is air flow, because when I water them, they did not dry out quickly so they end up rotted. However, I don't have any fancy set up, just put the plants on the table. Lighting is dependent on lamp on the ceiling and also there is a fan on the ceiling as well. Hopefully, indoor growers here would share some knowledge. I would appreciate every advice.

Sounds like you have a media issue. Either watering too often or the media is old and retaining water to the detriment of the roots. More holes in the side of the pot helps and make sure the media isn't breaking down.

Harvey nailed it, but in reality, too much water is not the issue; lack of air flow is.

Orchids do a great deal of gas exchange via their roots, unlike terrestrial plants. If the potting medium is too dense - that is, if the spaces between the particles are too small - then surface tension can keep them totally filled with water, suffocating the roots.

The trick is to find a potting medium that allows plenty of air flow to the rots, while still holding enough water to allow you to water at a reasonable frequency.

Thank you very much Harvey and Ray
I saw a few people had grown Cleisocentron spp. in this forum. Hopefully I can get some tips on growing culture too.
