    Default Dedrobium Hibiki

So yes, I was so envious of Sriram, Jack, and Elio plus I'm sure others of you having this beautiful orchid that I had to get one for myself. I just love the colors and the whole plant. Now any suggestions on what I should do after the blooming cycle. It's in a plastic pot with holes and I'm pretty sure mostly moss.

Another stunning Hibiki Sheryl! It should stay in bloom for awhile so you have time to figure out what to repot into. Congratulations of this one!! I repotted mine in sphagnum which means I will have to repot yearly.

I think its just a matter of when you see new roots coming. At least that's what I did. All of the ones I have seen have well advanced new PB's when blooming but those don't develop roots until the flowers are fading. I used a medium suited for younger plants. Put mine in clay but that's just me, I don't trust plastic. All of the ones I have seen come from Hawaii. Enjoy!

Very nice looking Hibiki. Just one word of caution, both the parents dont like to be repotted. Repot them when they are growing new roots and repot them only if required.

Thank you Sriram. Yes I remember your repotting warning. I haven't really examined real close so am I going to see new roots emerge out of the top of the moss? The bottom of the plant seems to be pretty well covered. I'm not used to a lot of moss. If I were to repot it in a small clay pot with a mix of moss and bark when I see new roots should this suffice?

Yes. You should be able to see the new roots growing just at the end of the cane. Smaller the pot (just enough to hold the root mass) would be better
