Hi all
I have been reading so much lately on all different kinds of orchids, that I have weaved my mind into a confused mess!!
I have a beautiful Cymbinium orchid (I recently bought from a local nursery) that has three spikes already in flower, opened and beautiful, I have another 3-4 spikes coming up on it too.... my question is, should I continue to feed it whilst it is flower?
By all means! Yes.
yes. You should. Flowering and fruiting are energy consuming process and you should feed them well.
I would agree, feed it!
Thank you all.... Best get outdoors and feed them.....
Unlike other trees, including bonsai, where during the flowering suspend fertilization, for orchids you must continue to fertilize, it is advisable at this time to use a fertilizer with a lower nitrogen content to prolong the maximum flowering.
Thank you Oile, I have just mixed up the feed at half strength, is that ok....
Elio is probably in bed now and I don't think he'd mind so.. there should be three numbers on the fetiliser container. They represent the primary nutrients. The 1st number is nitrogen. It should be lower than the other two. Unless of course the system is different in Australia.
