My guess if the other parent is fragrant, there is a chance of the resulting offspring to inherit some kind of fragrance. But if the other parent is not fragrant, the resulting offspring may or may not inherit any fragrance, or maybe the offspring's fragrance would not be as strong as Mimi Palmer's. I have a fragrant Vandachostylis Kedah Bella = Vanda vietnamica (non-fragrant) x Rhynchostylis coelestis (fragrant). But the fragrance is not very strong though.
