For about 18 months I've had around 20 phalaenopsis and an oncidium. There have been various health alarms - some sorted successfully, some not so much. My current problem is with a beautiful big, healthy phal, growing a beautiful big, healthy spike. I checked the plant a short while ago and two of the inner leaves are mushy in a small area, and traagedy, the spike looks as though it has been bitten almost right through.
I've cut off mushy parts with sterilized clippers, and sprayed with H. peroxide. Can anyone tell me what this might be, please? (I should probably have read through previous threads to see whether anything similar's been posted but that occurred to me too late...) Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks for that, 78Terp. I'm rubbish at posting photos but will have a go tomorrow.

Thanks BD for photo info, with luck I'll be able to post one.
I have removed mushy areas on leaves (removing into healthy tissue), applied hydrogen peroxide to leaves and spike, and dried off - 5 days ago. Rot appears to have stopped, and spike seems to be still growing, has a healthy green tip.
I would be most grateful for any suggestions! P.S. Have tried posting photo but am using an iPad and resizing photo is getting very complicated. Will have access to pc tomorrow!
