I got this Lipstick plant in the summer from the big grocery type store. I recognized that it was an African violet relative but I didn't know much more about it than that. It has grown well, I just kind of forgot about it except to water it once in awhile. A few weeks ago I noticed deep red what I thought were flowers. I thought 'well, that is nice'. This morning I was startled to see a flower coming out of the "flower". I was kind of startled when I saw it because I wasn't expecting it. I don't think it is completely open yet but this will be beautiful since it is covered with these buds (just found out they are called calyces).
