If there are still nodes on the remaining section of the spike, there is every possibility that secondary shoots/spikes will emerge. No special treatment, like the one suggested needed.

Hello...hoping you can help me out. My phal has just start growing a spike. I am over the moon excited as it is the first one in 3 years. Sadly I broke about an inch of the end off. Is it possible for that broken part to regrow? One site I went to said to put it in a pot of moss, cover with plastic and mist periodically for a few months. Will this work?

Hi Lesley and Welcome to the Forum! I don't think you could get anything from the small piece that broke off if that's what you mean. Not without some very specialized equipment. With any luck the intact spike will probably branch though.
