Vanda aurantiaca or miniata?. I am not quiet sure what it is
Whatever it is, it's pretty darn WOW!
I would say it is the miniata, looks like mine.
Whichever, it's beautiful. Love it!
General impression of both plant and flower, I would agree with V. miniata. Can you get a good picture of some leaf tips?
It would be either miniatum or garayi. I'd say it is miniatum. The real indicator is the leaves. garayi has thick succulent/fleshy leaves, and if given lots of sun they develop some maroon spots on them. The miniatum has thinner longer leaves more like curvifolium, but not as long.
I would say miniata. miniata sounds so strange after referring to it as miniatum for more than 50 years. Very nice clone Sriram.
Yes. Recently came across why it is miniata and not miniatum. Since the Ascocentrum is classified as vanda, latin has strong gender construct of words. Vanda is feminine gender and has to end with "a" hence Vanda miniata. Ascocentrum (ending with um) is neutral gender and has to end with "um" and hence Ascocentrum miniatum. I am not sure if this understanding is 100% though.
Both are very nice Sriram is an easy species to flower here too.
