It was in spike last summer, but it did not bloom, and the spike after a while was dry.
This is the first time it blooms for me.
This is the second bud that blooms,
The first about three weeks ago was not right.
Any idea of the possible cause?
Rewarded for your patience! Well Done Nicola!

No idea why the one looked like it did but way to hang in there with it! It is lovely!
Nice job blooming, I am still waiting for mine to bloom!
Good one. Last years pike abort could happen due to various reasons. a) pest attack b) sudden change in humidity/heat c) exposure to chemicals d) abort to lack of energy. we will have to remove one reason at a time to narrow down the cause.
Gorgeous Nicola! Definitely one on my wish list.
Thanks to everyone,
it is really a pleasure to see a plant reward our attentions.
Particular thanks to Sriram for his effort to identify the cause of the abnormal bloom.
Most likely in this case, it is lack of enrgy, last summer it got too hot and the plant since then is slowly recovering.
From my experience, first blooms always seem to be off. But then subsequent blocks meet expectations. Blasting flower buds is usually a function of the environment which also impacts first blooms. It is difficult to get a bellina to bloom, well done.
Awesome Nicola congrats.
beautiful blooms...this is my favorite phal sp I just love the soft scent
