I went out this afternoon looking for a blooming tree that is low enough for me to photograph and I found this one near the town's recreation center.

That is a wonderful tree. I believe that it is a (Delonix Regia) Royal Poinciana or in that family.

Beautiful ! Molly would it grow in Fl.? if so I may move lol Gin
Yes they do grow in Fl, and can reach 40' We also have a Jacaranda tree that is lavender that is every bit as pretty, I think that they are cousins. Same kind of Mimosa leaves. Come on Down, if you like hurricanes!!!
I noticed the mimosa leaves we have them here, the pink fluffy ones .
Trade you for tornados ! . I have a sister in law in Ocala she just got back in her house after a year it had to be completly rebuilt , they lived in thier travel trailer . Gin
I'll take hurricanes over tornados any day of the week.
Molly, I think you are right, it is the Delonix regia. The jacarandas are also in full bloom but they are too high for me. There is a tree though with purple flowers and big, look like hibiscus, and the tree are not too tall, and they are in bud........a couple of weeks more....maybe shorter
Wow, they are quite spectacular aren't they... there are a couple of them on our street but they are only babies... maybe a few more years
