    Default mystery goo

Bruce recommended iI post this in open forum. I have had mitry mass grow on one of my bulbopyhllums, a translucent tan jelly like mass, no photo sorry, Ludite here. appears after a night time rain, orchids areon patio outdoors, has happened twice. First time just swabbed goo off with alcohol, came back next nighttime rain. Second time treated with Physan 20, sprayed plant and soaked pot in Physan, did not want to disturb plant as it is growing so well. The goo did not appearthis morning after nighttime rain. I was wondering what it was, curiosity, has seemed to affect plant.

I haven't a clue as I have not had that problem with my Bulbophyllum, but I would like to know what some have to say about it just in case I see this one day.

Do an image search for tan jelly fungus and see if any of those pictures resemble what you have seen. Jelly fungus typically appears after a rain. It is most likely feeding off the bark or mount and is no direct harm to the plant.

One other possibility is eggs of slugs/snails and looks like a jelly too. Certainly a picture would help to understand better

I agree with the jelly fungus - seen it myself. Once it's present, you'll need a fungicide to eliminate it - a bit of cinnamon tea is sufficient. (There are a couple of options making it - see my Home Remedies page.)

While agree that the fungus may not necessarily harm plants directly, it is an indicator that the medium is decomposing, and it also accelerates that process. Treat and repot.
